Fat Uncle Auto
Luxury & exotic car rental
A multi-city U.S. car rental network with a luxury and exotic fleet — Mercedes, BMW, Porsche, Lamborghini, Ferrari, Rolls-Royce. Around 1,000 vehicles across 6+ U.S. cities, focused on the Chinese-American community in the U.S. for leisure, business and luxury-occasion rentals.
A high-value fleet (Lamborghini, Ferrari, Rolls-Royce) raises the stakes on every check-out and return. Disputes on exotic vehicles are high-friction and expensive to resolve. They needed a standardized smartphone capture workflow across every city plus trusted, third-party repair-cost validation — so renters, staff and insurers all see the same independent assessment.
High-stakes claims, high-friction disputes
Three structural problems made damage handling on a luxury & exotic fleet harder than it should be. Manual walk-around inspections take 30–45 minutes per vehicle in the industry standard, and exotic vehicles need extra photo coverage at hand-off — even longer queue time. Each city documented vehicles slightly differently — different photo angles, different damage notation — so standards drifted across 6+ metro locations, and multi-city operations made comparing photo evidence between hand-offs difficult. When the staff produced the repair estimate, renters and insurers disputed it as self-interested; on an exotic vehicle, the dollar amounts are large and the claims process is slow.
"Friction sat at the most sensitive moment of the rental lifecycle."

Visual capture + third-party repair estimates
Standardized smartphone capture at every counter — repair-cost estimates handled by Self Inspection's insurance-trained evaluators. Staff follow the same guided photo & video walkaround at every city counter — no clipboards, no paper, no offline backlog. All photos and videos land in one place, and proprietary compression keeps file sizes light while retaining the detail needed for high-value damage review. Counter staff annotate the captured imagery directly, then Self Inspection's insurance-trained evaluators generate the repair-cost estimate from the staff-reported damage — an independent assessment that reduces claims friction.
